Al caire de les campanes - By Alexandre Ballester

Al caire de les campanes - By Alexandre Ballester

Event Information

Dramatized reading of this crucial work of our literature that will help us to know better one of our most important dramatic authors.

Alexandre Ballester passed away with a certain resentment: he could not see his beloved Al caire de les campanes performed onstage. Even if this work was awarded the Premi del Teatre Principal on 1987, it had not been put onstage until now.

Set in the oneiric world of Albopàs, a key place in Ballester’s dramaturgy, this work tells the story of Elisa, Víctor, and the brothers Teodolf and Nicolau Casas. Victor is the classic dreamer hero of Ballester’s oeuvre. His return to Albopàs will resume the two brothers’ thirst for vengeance, resetting past mistrusts.

Structured in three acts, with time leaps and a poetic and metaphoric language, this dramatized reading depicts how the inhabitants of Albopàs confront past rancor that most of them have tried to forget in vain.

A unique opportunity to discover Ballester’s most ambitious side.

Coproduced by Teatre Principal together with Albopàs, Festival de Teatre Alexandre Ballester.
