Can Vivot inaugurates Where cinema and history meet, a series that recovers films partially shot at Can Vivot and screens them in the same space where they were recorded. The first session is dedicated to Flor de Espino (1925), by Jaume Ferrer, one of the earliest preserved cinematic fictions from Mallorca. An opportunity to recover the visual memory of the island and discover Mallorca from a century ago. Screening with live music, performed by FestMusic Mallorca. Discussion with Josep Antoni Pérez de Mendiola Roig, researcher and person responsible for the film's restoration. Documentary and photographic exhibition. Welcome cocktail. Can Vivot hosts the second session of Where Cinema and History Meet, a series that showcases films partially shot at Can Vivot and screens them in the same space where they were filmed. The second session is dedicated to Playa de Formentor (1964), directed by Germán Lorente and starring, among others, Margit Kocsis. The film takes us to Mallorca in the 1960s and offers a perspective on the tourism boom and the transformation of the island's landscape. Discussion with Marga Melià Rigo, Mallorcan film director, screenwriter, and producer, about the cinematic context of the time and the relationship between cinema and landscape. The session is dedicated to El celo (1999), directed by Mallorcan filmmaker Antoni Aloy and starring Lauren Bacall, Harvey Keitel, Sadie Frost, and Jude Law. Based on Henry James' The Turn of the Screw, the film combines intrigue, drama, and supernatural elements, showcasing Mallorca as the setting for an internationally projected film production. Can Vivot hosts the fourth session of Where Cinema and History Meet, a series that showcases films partially shot at Can Vivot and screens them in the very space where they were filmed. The session is dedicated to Bearn or The Doll Room (1983), directed by Jaime Chávarri and starring Fernando Rey, Amparo Soler Leal, Imanol Arias, and Ángela Molina. The adaptation of Llorenç Villalonga's novel takes us to Mallorca in 1865 and reconstructs the story of the Bearn family, marked by memory and social transformation. A discussion with Jaime Chávarri, the film’s director, about the cinematic adaptation and its connection to Mallorca and the literary work. Documentary and photographic exhibition.
